A new 10K course debuted in 2006 to resounding praise from participants.
The route this year will continue to use this same course.
Do I get a free t-shirt?
All runners (Tots, 2K, 5K, 10K) receive a free t-shirt if
we receive your registration by Saturday, April 13, 2013. If your
on-line or postmarked entry is after that date, you can get a shirt
on a first come, first served basis AFTER the start of the 10k. Sizes are not guaranteed after Saturday, April 13, 2013. We urge you to register early to guarantee a shirt.
When does registration close?
On-line registration
closes
4/26/2013 at 5:00 PM. You can register in
person on Saturday, April 27 between 10 am and 1 pm and Sunday, April 28 starting at 9am at the Groton-Dunstable
Middle School. Late fees will be charged for race weekend registration.
Where and when do I pick up my race number?
You have two options:
- You can pick up your race number on Saturday, April 27 from 10 am to 1 pm at the Groton-Dunstable Middle School.
- You can pick up your race number prior to the race
on Sunday, April 28 starting at 9 am.
Will I receive any confirmation once I register?
If you've registered online you will receive a confirmation email.
Please print out your receipt and bring it when you pick up your
race number. If you register by mail and provide your email address you will also receive a confirmation email.
You can email us at registration@grotonroadrace.com to confirm your registration status.
What happens if for some reason I cannot run the race?
Groton Road Race does not offer refunds or permit name changes
to an entry.
Will the race be cancelled for any reason?
In our history we've never cancelled the race.
It will be run rain or shine, unless there is an event such
as an Act of God or the Town of Groton deems it unsafe. The
race committee will take under advisement rescheduling or offering
refunds after that time.
What if I wish to change from the 5K to the 10K or the reverse?
You can run either race without penalty or additional
entry fees. You do not need to notify race organizers that
you're switching events.
What if I register for either the 5K or 10K and want to change
to the 2K?
No problem, you don't need to change your number or
registration fee. The
2K is a self-timed event.
Can I run both the 5K and 10K?
Yes, you can, but you'll need to register and pay an entry fee for each event. You will get two bibs/chips. Each timing chip is programmed for only one race and your results will not be captured if you wear it for a second race.
During the 5K and 10K, will my family be able to see me out
on the course?
Both race-courses are closed to traffic. If your
family wants to see you during the race, they should
get into position before the race starts.
My family will be with me. What events can my children
participate in?
There is a Tots' Trot and 2K for children. Children
through 6 years old can run in the Tots' Trot and runners
of all ages can run in the 2K. The Tots' Trot has
a limit of 400 children and it fills to capacity
each year.
How many water stations will there be?
In the 5K there will be a water stop at approximately
the 2-mile mark. The 10K will have water at the
2- and 4-mile marks. Both races have water available
at the starting corral. The 2K has water at the
finish line.
What if I can't finish the race?
There will be support vehicles on the course
for any medical emergencies.
What will the weather be like?
Temperatures are typically in the 40s
to 50s in late April. However, New England
weather is known for its unpredictability so
be prepared for anything! We haven't had any
snow in the race's 16-year history.
Can I wear headphones during the race?
For insurance and safety reasons, we
ask that you leave your headphones, CD and MP3 players
at home for use during your training
runs.
Can I push a stroller or run with my dog during the race?
For insurance and safety reasons,
both for yourself and other runners, please
do not bring strollers or dogs onto the
race course.
Can I set up an on-site booth for sales or promotions?
The Groton Road Race reserves the Groton Middle School campus, including the gymnasium, track, fields, access driveways and parking lots, for the weekend of the races.
Space is quite limited and is planned to the square foot for the operations of the race. Space is reserved for our major cash sponsors and to groups who are directly assisting in the race. During race weekend the Race does not make space available to parties not directly involved in the race.
